Pressure control combination for disinfection systems

Pre-assembled control and monitoring unit for safe dosing processes in sensitive applications.

For the disinfection of medical waste, a reliable and at the same time easy-to-operate dosing unit is required. In addition to stable pressure regulation, controlled flow management and clear status monitoring are necessary. The objective was a compact, ready-to-install solution with reduced procurement and installation effort.

The challenge

In a plant for the disinfection of medical waste, a disinfection medium had to be precisely dosed and continuously monitored. Process control required stable pressure regulation, a reliable shut-off and control function, as well as monitoring of the actual flow rate.

Standard components procured individually would have meant increased assembly effort, multiple interfaces, and additional coordination requirements in plant engineering. In addition, the simplest possible operation during ongoing operation was required in order to minimize manual interventions and keep the logistics effort low.

The objective was therefore to find a technically coordinated, compact unit that integrates all necessary functions and can be incorporated into the system as a tested assembly.


The STASTO solution

Together with the machine builder, STASTO developed a pre-assembled pressure control combination. This consists of a pressure regulator, two solenoid valves, a needle valve, and a flow monitor. The coordinated arrangement of the components enables precise pressure adjustment, controlled media release, and continuous monitoring of the flow.

The pressure regulator ensures constant process conditions, while the solenoid valves enable automated control within the higher-level plant concept. The needle valve allows fine adjustment of the flow rate. The flow monitor serves process safety and reports deviations to the control system at an early stage.

The entire unit was delivered ready for installation and tested. This reduces the number of interfaces in control cabinet construction and piping. For the plant manufacturer, this results in a clearly defined system solution instead of a large number of individual components.


The result

The functionally coordinated combination of the individual components allows the flow to be controlled and monitored with just a few simple steps. The pre-assembled unit simplifies integration into existing system structures and reduces the internal effort required for design and assembly.

In operation, the solution ensures stable pressure conditions and reproducible dosing. The integrated monitoring increases operational safety and supports reliable continuous operation. At the same time, the organizational effort for procurement and spare parts management is reduced, as the assembly can be managed as a defined unit.
