For the media supply of a test system, a solution was to be implemented that is based on available standard components and can still be individually adapted to different system configurations. The goal was a technically sound, maintenance-friendly and at any time reproducible basic configuration. At the same time, procurement and project execution had to be simplified.

The challenge
In the field of test bench construction, media such as compressed air or other process media must be provided reliably, precisely and safely. Depending on the test specimen and the design of the system, connection diagrams, flow requirements and installation situations vary.
According to the project description, the requirement was to use standard products that are available at all times and can still be individually adapted to the respective system design. In addition to technical suitability, delivery capability therefore also played a central role.
Purely custom solutions would have enabled an exact adaptation, but would have been disadvantageous in terms of procurement, spare parts inventory, and project duration. Conversely, standard solutions without any scope for adaptation did not sufficiently cover the specific requirements of the test system. A structured, modular system solution was therefore required.
The STASTO solution
STASTO worked together with the plant manufacturer to develop a basic technical combination for media supply. Only components from STASTO’s extensive product range were used, including industrial valves, shut-off valves, fittings and pneumatic components.
The solution is based on a modular media bar that integrates standardized valve and fitting elements. Due to the defined basic structure, different system variants can be implemented with a manageable adaptation effort.
The selection of components was carried out taking into account:
- Pressure and flow requirements
- Maintenance accessibility
- robust design for continuous operation
- Clear separation of individual media circuits
- easy expandability
The use of high-quality standard products with short availability has simplified system integration. At the same time, the modular design enables flexible adaptation to customer-specific requirements without changing the basic structure.
The technical coordination with the machine builder took place at an early stage of the design process, so that interfaces, mounting points and connection geometries could already be taken into account in the layout.
